The sound of Christmas tunes fill the air as you dash from store to store looking for the best game to give to that gamer on your list. Or maybe you’re that said gamer and you want to prevent Aunt Agnes from giving you another set of bright red pajamas for Christmas. So here is a holiday guide of games to help you pick out/ receive the perfect gift.
The PSP has not done as well as its competitor, the DS Lite/DSi. This doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have any games worth getting. In fact, the PSP has a great selection of hits released just within the past few months. With the recent release of the PSPgo and digital downloads sold alongside physical copies of games, fans of most genres will find a game they can play on the go. Here is a list of the top five PSP games I recommend for gifts.
1. LittleBigPlanet – .99 – Everyone’s favorite creative outlet for the PS3 is now a hand-held game. Bringing everything that made LBP one of the greatest PS3 titles released to date, this spinoff is perfect for the LBP fan. The only missing feature is the multiplayer gameplay.

2. Half-Minute Hero – .99 – The game that was originally a Flash game, Half-Minute Hero offers five different modes, most giving you a time limit of thirty seconds. While it might seem like a game with JRPG, shooter, RTS features, and the short time limit would be a failure, this game pulls it off. The four main modes are different from one another; Hero mode- save the world while paying the Goddess of Time to extend the timer, Princess mode- a shooter with independent aim, Evil Lord mode- RTS where you send out enemies to take out the heroes, Wizard and Knight modes- stay alive and keep the wizard alive until the timer runs out.
3. Dissidia: Final Fantasy – .99 – Square’s gift to FF fans everywhere is a fighting game with RPG elements. The roster includes one hero and one villain from each game in the series (Well, FFI through FFX with a hero from FFXI and a villain from FFXII).
4. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona – .99 – The remake of the original title released back in 1996 came out with changes and new features. Now fans don’t have to import the Japanese version to see the Snow Queen storyline. There are now difficulty levels, tweaks to the enemy encounter rate and voice acting.
5. Gran Turismo – .99 – While fans are still awaiting Gran Turismo 5, Polyphony Digial released the hand-held version to fairly positive reviews. The game may have been in production for awhile but it was worth the wait. Boasting over 800 vehicles and 35 tracks, it has everything a gamer could want in a portable game.
My Honorable Mentions:
Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines
Tekken 6
Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble
Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days
